Work Your Way
Work Your Way is a programme where we work with young adults with an EHCP to prepare them for working life. The programme consists of 3 days per week.
Work Your Way is a small, bespoke provision that is suitable for young people who require additional support to find, access and maintain work placements that could lead to employment. We deliver a Work Experience and a Supported Internship programme. The focus is enabling young people to access placements with one to one support provided if required. We work alongside local employers finding opportunities that meet your individual skills and aspirations. Each programme develops young people’s confidence and supports their ability to travel independently and effectively work with others with the opportunity to succeed in the workplace.
Work Experience
Work Experience is designed to bridge the gap between education and the world of work. Learners have the opportunity to follow a flexible course in a supportive and relaxed environment.
The core elements of the course will cover:
Careers advice
Volunteering
Building experience and confidence
Variety of practical experience of the workplace
Building employability skills
Help instil the attitudes and behaviours expected in the
workplace.
There will exciting opportunities to be involved in community projects around their local area. Travel training will be part of the programme encouraging confidence and independence. Learners will not have the stress of a formal assessment and progression will be measured on the them achieving their personal goals. The programme promotes experiences in the workplace, helping learners to choose their preferred pathway and expand their expectations.
Supported Internship
A supported internship is a structured programme where the student is based primarily with an external employer for an extended work placement, facilitated by the support of a job coach.
Ideally you have an idea of what type of work you want to do prior to starting this programme in order to get the most out of it.
You spend time in the classroom building up to a placement in the workplace, matched to your goals and ambitions.
The programme will keep building on your skills in CV writing, interview skills, improving confidence and team working.
We provide high quality information, advice and guidance to help you with this. • The aspiration is that by the end of the Work Your Way programme you have either gained paid employment, become a volunteer or are engaged in another form of meaningful activity. We want to challenge you and support you to succeed.
Our programme is currently based in Truro however, we endeavour to find the work placements close to home.
